GETTING READY TO READ |
Pre-school students get a firm foundation in phonics
and reading as they learn letters, sounds and begin
blending these sounds into words. Through one on
one instruction, students are gently led through a
series of skills to prepare them for reading.
Students learn that printed words are made up of
ordered strings of letters read left to right. As they
develop a familiarity with letters and an awareness
of the sounds of phonemes, (smallest functional
unit of speech) they are ready to learn about
letter-sound correspondence.
